Sonic Africa is a soundsystem and online radio station from Prague, that plays african and caribbean music. It´s aim is to introduce to the listening public the best from various african and caribbean genres. Of course, there is a lot of african and caribbean bands as well as musicians, that became superstars well known around the world. On the other side there are very good musician, who play also an awsome and amazing music, that did not reach the ears of european and american audience´s. Searching for these musicians is like serching for pearls. I am very happy, when I find something interresting, also I am very happy, when I can introduce this music to audiences. Sonic africa is not playing only   world music. We are also playing a modern african urban-music from todays musical centers of Africa ( hiphop from Dakar and Nairobi, contemporary zouk from Cote D´Ivore, kwaito from South Africa ) and an important part of our music is reggae.

Sonic Africa soundsystem was founded in the spring 2007, when DJ Ross The Boss (CZE), DJ Roy (KONGO) and MC/DJ Jerry (ANGOLA/CZE) started  playing together on Saturday parties at Ridgeback club. This interresting cooperation was ended after four months. DJ Roy stand at Ridgebackclub and now he is playing mostly congloese music and hiphop. MC Jerry left the scene to join the work force, and has a little time for music. DJ Ross The Boss started to play reguraly at Meli-Melo since July as a last member of Sonic Africa soundsystem. Time to time Jerry sing with him as an MC as well as MC Danny K (KONGO/ITALY). Sonic africa je soundsystém a online radio stanice z Prahy, jež se zaměřuje na africkou a karibskou muziku. Naším cílem zpřístupnit veřejnosti to nejlepší pokud možno z co nejvíce afrických a karibských žánrů. Samozřejmě je řada interpretů z černého kontinentu i z karibiku, jež se stali superstar a znají je lidé na celém světě. Stejně tak je však obrovské množství vynikajících skupin a interpretů, jejichž hudba zatím nedosáhla k uším posluchačů z Evropy. Hledání těchto interpretů je vzrušující a dá se přirovnat k hledání perel. Člověk má poprvé obrovskou radost, když objeví nějakou zajímavou věc, podruhé má radost, když tuto věc může představit posluchačům.

  Sonic africa soundsystem se nezaměřuje pouze na to, co se dnes nazývá worldmusic, ale snažíme se hrát i moderní africkou urban-music ze současných hudebních center Afriky ( ať už se jedná o hip-hop z Dakaru či z Nairobi, současný zouk z Pobřeží Slonoviny, nebo kwaito z Jihoafrické republiky ). Velký prostor věnujeme reggae.

  Sonic africa soundsystem vznikl na jaře roku 2007, kdy své síly spojili Dj Ross The Boss (CZE), DJ Roy (KONGO) a MC/DJ Jerry (ANGOLA/CZE) během sobotních parties v klubu Ridgeback. Po čtyřech měsících byla tato dle mého názoru zajímavá spolupráce ukončena. DJ Roy zůstal v klubu Ridgeback a věnuje se konžské muzice z a hiphopu. MC Jerry se začal věnovat serióznímu zaměstnání a na hudební produkci mu v současné době nezbývá mnoho času. DJ Ross The Boss začal od července 2007 pravidelně hrát v africkém klubu Meli-Melo, jako jediný z původní sestavy Sonic africa soundstem, Jerry vystupuje příležitostně jako MC, stejně tak jako příležitostný MC vystupuje Danny K (KONGO/ITALY). Pokud tedy máte zájem slyšet Sonic africa soundsystem naživo, checkujte program Meli-Melo a přijďte zapařit.
